Jasmine by Takamine?

I'm looking at buying my first acoustic and I'm curious about the Jamine's by Takamine. Are they a good guitar? (Not just to learn on but to also grow on?)
Also, are there many negatives to getting an acoustic/electric over a plain acoustic?

I have never played a Jasmine, but I haven't heard anything positive about them yet, but of cours it is all a matter of opinion.

I personally don't play an acoustic/electric. I stuck with just an acoustic, but I do not plan on playing on an amp anytime soon. If you are limited in funds and do not need to plug in, I would stay with acoustic only. Why pay for the pickup? that extra money might get you a better guitar. Of course, if you have the cash and can afford a Taylor or something, you can get an A/E without losing quality of wood or craftmanship.
