I just got my new Fender STandard jazz on wednesday... That day my friends came over and picked me up to go jam... i had no idea it was going to rain that day... and I have yet to buy a case for any of my basses...
When we got done jamming... it was pouring rain... and I had to carry my bass outside to my friends car...
the next day... i plugged my bass in... and my E string sounds dead...
Is this a problem with the pickups or just with the strings???
It also seems a little bit quieter than my yamaha bass...
Anyone help me!!

for my high school marching band i played my electric guitar in a fairly decent amount for rain for about 15-20 mins, not counting the time while we were waitng play and setup. so it was probably in the rain for a half hour. this was over a year ago and i have yet to see any problems cause by the rain.

I've seen live concerts with bands playing in the rain for about an hour. The sound of their instruments don't seem to change from the beginning to the end...

Well as long as you dont have actice pickups like EMG's you should be fine. Water and EMGs dont mix, the pickups will short out. Heh i remember reading an article about Zakk Wyld (sp) and his guitar would short out on stage. This was becuase he would drink water, then the water would drip down his beard and into his guitar. Just thought all of you needed to know that :D
