I just purchased an Ibanez AW200 and started taking lessons. Since I started, my 2 boys have shown an interest in also taking lessons. They are 7 and 10 years old. Any suggestions on what guitars and sizes I should get for them? I don't want to spend a lot of money in case they get bored with it.

well I'm not sure on the sizes, but I think for the 10 year old, you could start him off on a classic guitar (the acoustic with the nylon strings and pretty large neck)
I started on this when I was 11, soo it should be ok for him
I hope this helped in any possible way, hehe. Cyberfret or gibby or coffee should have some good answers for you

hmmm...well....yeah a smaller body size for your 10 year old would probably be a good idea...especially if he hasnt hit many growth spurts yet....and i dont know if he has to have classical with nylon strings...it seems you build better habits/knowledge with them (acoustics) and the nylons are easier to fret...but electrics are pretty easy to push around too...it kind of depends on his interest and your wallet....

however....concerning your 7 year old....you may want to read this thread:

i dont know.....he might be too young...and if you buy one kid a guitar and not the other...it might make problems....but maybe you could take them to the store and encourage him to pick out a different instrument? or if you wait to buy them something....itll give you time to learn about the guitar and maybe youll make a better pick in 6 or 12 months....

im not an expert....im just giving my opinion...so take that into consideration....
