Hey, lately I've opened myself to buttloads of all kinds of music and I really feel in love with funk. So , please, if anyone has any suggestions on what I should be listening, please post them. I don't care if it's disco, jazz or rock funk as long as it's groovy

well obviously parliment/funkadelic are/were very popular... but you should also give "the meters" a listen as well as anything from the james brown camp (yeah yeah, i know he is the godfather of soul, but a lot of his stuff is pretty heavy funk).

a lot of jam bands are pretty funky/groove oriented as well. a band from my hometown, "umphreys mcgee" has made a national (US) name for themselves with their brand of "evil funk" ... if you can find a download of their song, "professor wormborg" i would highly sugest giving it a listen

I also have to mention Sly and the Family Stone. I've recently stumbled across a band from Ithica, NY called Revision who can lay down a serious funk groove. check them out at www.revisionmusic.com

It went GREAT, thanks. The wedding reception was the biggest best party I've ever thrown... 400 people getting totally tanked and having a good time. Then we went to Mexico for the honeymoon and that was totally paradise man. Just like a Corona commercial or something. So I'm still trying to get adjusted.
