Can anybody play Eugene's Trick Bag by Steve Vai up to speed? I'm usually about 10-15bpm behind and I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to practice this song. Especially the second part where he heads up to the 14th and the end with the huge climbs and falls.

thanks

The only thing I can really say is get a metronome and practise your arse off. Increase the speed of the metronome after a few days - maybe a week, keep doing that until you're up to speed.

i can play the part from the paginini caprice. The bit A minor melody that begins on the 14th.

I find the sweep arpeggios at the start most difficult.

But no i cant play it up to speed.

I just memorized the piece about 2 weeks ago. I can get within 5 bpm with a good clean sound but I still can't get it at full speed cleanly. I can get full speed but I usually mess up a few notes.

I'll record my version when I get another guitar cable. I'll be using a 69 strat into a fender tube. <-- Doesn't sound at all like the Vai sound.
