ive heard a lot of people complaining about ernie ball strings (high E string breaking, wobbling, sounding bad etc), and im in the midst of replacing mine (at last! still havent changed them and its been 6 months)
right, so now its made me think.
i want a set from 9 - 50 if its at all available
who do i go for...ernie ball...D'Addario?

You may like "skinny top, Heavy bottom" type strings. They have the thick 6th string and the small 1st string that you're looking for. I use d'addario because they are sealed at the factory and don't age on the shelf like other brands do. I use .010-.046 and I rarely break any strings. I do here and there, but not like I used to with the cheap store brand strings.
