I find that pull offs are decreasing my speed badly..Say i am playing a solo at a furious pace and suddenly i encounter a pull off ...by the time i get my fingers in position for the pull off and execute i find that i feel behind in time...
The problem i am saying is When i am playing quite fast and i encounter a pull off my speed goes down drasctically
Hope that makes it clear..Last time i posted a message i think i was misinterpretated :(
Besides the pull off comes out rotten too ...
P.S When i pull pull offs on my acoustic in the higher frets (say 12th fret) I hardly hear any sound..Is that the way it is or...?

Just PRACTISE it! =]
practise getting the pull off, then practise adding it into the solo

After you practice pull-offs over and over, play the solo slow. So you won't rush through the pull-off thinking you will get behind in the song. Once you can play the solo perfectly at a slow speed, start playing it faster. Repeat untill you have the original speed.

Also when you are doing your pull off, keep your finger that you pull with as close as you can to the neck. Some people have a tendancy to over pull or move their fingers to far away from the neck, which will make a person slower as it takes seconds for the fingers to recover......2nd PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE SLOW THEN FAST

You are having trouble hearing it on the 12 fret or whatever, because you are simply lifting your finger...this may work on electrics, but on acoustics you should not simply just lift your finger off......Say you are pulling off from the 15th to the 12 fret on the high E string (1st string)...you should'nt just lift off your finger, you should pull it down like you are trying to pull it off the next...this will cause a sort of left hand plucking action, and will make the pull off sound alot louder...hope that helps.
Just one more thing (that should be logical anyways :)):
if you do already have to place your finger on the fret/string where you should do the pullof afterwards, keep it there if possible. Some people remove their finger from a fret as soon as they play the next note: however, this costs speed! If you don't want that note to ring, lift your finger a bit but keep it in position for the pulloff.
And yes, simply "removing" the finger doesn't yield a clear strong sound on an acoustic (on the higher frets), you have to pluck the string a bit when you remove your finger. Practice this!
