I IV V progression using Dominant 7th chords

major and minor pentatonic scales and of course the blues scale
and you can mix all three together....and maybe Mixolydian too :p

Then you can try playing 12 bars, with the progression that wild_axeman gave you
Heres a couple basic ones

I-I-I-I-IV-IV-I-I-V-IV-I-V
OR
I-IV-I-I-IV-IV-I-I-V-V-I-I
OR using 7ths
I-I-I-I7-IV-IV-I-I-V7-IV-I-V7

try those they're pretty easy and you can pick pretty much any key and just plug in the chords..

the rhythum is called a "shuffle" in a time signature it's 12/8. the best way to explain it is probably the mathematical way.

3=a note
+=silence
a=another note
|=end of "repetitive pattern"

3+a|3+a|3+a and so on.

it'd be easier to show it to you, but it takes a while to understand also.

another thing about blues is the pentatonic scales, know em well. you'll be sliding up and down between them in soloing. you could try introducing yourself to blues via some Led Zeppelin, but the rhythum is different. try learning "Rock And Roll."
Zep uses a lot of blues licks and tricks.
