Hey!

There are two things that I need help with.

1). If anyone knows how to correctly do a pick scratch (like in the Blink 182 song "Aliens Exist") I would really appreciate it.

2). I am having trouble fingering this riff:

e-------------------------------------------
B---4-4-4-4-2-2-2-2-4-4-4-4-2-2-2-2
G---4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4
D---2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2
A-------------------------------------------
E--------------------------------------------

It is the intro from the Blink 182 song "Going Away To College." So far, the only fingering i can think of is having my index finger on the D string, my middle finger on the G string, and my ring finger sliding up and down on the B string. Its really not working too well. I would really appreaciate any suggestions.

1. Pick Slide - Put the edge of the pick to the the string, and slide it down or up the string

2. Bar the 2nd fret starting on the d string with your index. Put your ring finger on the 4th fret of the g string, and tuck your pinky underneath it on the b string 4th fret. Now when it comes to changing from 4th to second fret, you can just lift the pinky up or place it down when needed because you have your index barring the 2.

i find that sometimes depending on the effect....
which is either distorted....really distorted...or ridiculously distorted....then the slide doesnt always work on the high e (could be my stirings...who knows..)
try on all the bass strings basically

Pick scrapes only work on the 'wound' strings (low E, A and D).
Otherwise, on strings G, B and high E, it's just like a wierd way of picking the string. You don't really get a scraping noise, just the sound of the string vibrating.
