Wah trouble

I got a recommendation for a wah pedal, a 535Q crybaby, and i was wondering. I have a digitech RP-3 multi... and when i use it, i leave the amp's distortion off and i use the pedal, but when i use the wah from the rp-3 it sounds really stupid and for it sound really good i have to turn the amp's distortion on but then i'm not able to clearly listen what i'm playing. so i'm wondering if the same thing's gonna happen with the crybaby or not??

well if I understand the digitech rp 3 (or 300 whateva its called) you make patches for your sounds. And I think that what you also do is select which effect goes before which. Now if you're choosing distortion before wah, then thats what is stuffing you up. You need to put the wah before everything.
