I think you mean fermata...

A fermata signals that you hold out a note (for longer than notated) and continue on after that whenever you feel like. So if there's a fermata on beat 4, then just hold it for a kind of dramatic effect before you hit 1 on the next measure (assuming you're in 4/4 time).

If you don't understand my explanation, plz ask again.

actually i checked again and it is Fementa the symbol for it is that to describe its got a bracket type thing ( but its facing up from the bottom and it has a . in the middle of it. Sorry if its hard to understand

The ( is facing up? Kind of like a U? I've never heard of that. Where'd you see it.

Sounds like a fermata to me. It's like a rainbow arc over a period.

Well a google search for 'fementa' brings up 14 results, most not in English, none in Italian. Whereas a search for 'fermata' brings up about 207,000.

Whoever wrote 'fementa' was probably on crack or just plain misspelled fermata. It is not another name for fermata as far as I know.

That is a fermata.

fermata - "A notation directing the performer... to sustain the note of a composition... as long as the artistic interpretation of the conductor allows. The fermata is marked above the note or rest to be held."
