santa mike brought me a new washburn idol :) and i LOOOOOVE it! almost as much as him...but if he keeps supplying me with beautiful guitars i think he just might keep my heart....LOL..jk

i decided on the red one. originally i wanted the blue one mostly because on washburns site it says the dl's have mahogany necks and the regular ones have maple. but i found alot of people saying it was wrong in all the reviews i read. so when i went to the music store i asked them to show me...and....people were right....all the WI64's both versions have mahogany necks. so i was like..bonus...because the gold tone on the dl's wears off kind of fast from what im hearing....and if the necks werent different...really the only major difference between the dl's and the regular WI64's was color/flamed top...big whoop!

anyhow...i still suck at playing..lol...but i had an experienced player help me test it out...and he loved it too...
ive heard people be unhappy with the WI64/WI64dl but it think they just didnt know how to use the VCC controls....their unhappiness really seemed to revolve around that...

anyhow...

if you get a chance to play one anytime try it...just for the heck of it...i think youll like it too...but yeah...the controls are a bit of a challenge to decipher...not too bad once you get it tho...the guy i had help me has played alot of years and alot of different guitars and he didnt have any trouble with them at all....

they sound PERFECT...

the guy i had test it out for me...could not find a single thing wrong with it...intonation is perfect...
you can get just about any sound out of it you like....any style....my "tester" can really shred...but hes really good at every style of music ive heard him play....and hes a relative so ive heard him play ALOT....i didnt know him way back when but he claims he was playing a 12 string by age 8....my husband and he were very close as kids and he hasnt told me he was lying..so i actually believe it...and yeah....all he pretty much does is play music...
well anyways...what i was gonna say is...im pretty sure that he hit just about every fret every string....hes really quite unbelievable...and he loved the guitar...so i figured i made a good choice...
and at $400 it was a great deal for such a nice guitar....

the only other thing ive heard anyone complain about (in the reviews online) is the humbuckers...they are stock...and who knows what that guys bias was...but they are just fine for me...and yeah....thats something you can easily change in the future...

all in all....id buy this guitar a second time if i needed another guitar in this price range....
