I have a torino acoustic..... it cost about 200$ canadian (probably around 150$ american) it plays very well and I've had it for about 4 years. I recommend it. Look for different types.... If you are just starting out I wouldn't worry to much.

I have a Sigma acoustic. It is the "lower line" of Martin Guitars. These guitars are made very sturdy! They have spruce tops, mahogany sides and Grover tuning keys. (at least they did when I bought mine!) CF Martin & Company has designed the Sigma line based on specifications of handcrafted Martin instruments. To insure the industry's highest standards, all Sigma Studio series guitars undergo a thorough inspection and preparation by experienced Martin craftsmen. All Sigma guitars purchased in the U.S. are covered by a limited lifetime warranty to the original owner. These guitars usually start at $150-$200 (USA). To find these guitars, look for a Martin guitar dealer in your area, or look at MusiciansFriend.com. There is a link to them on the front page of CyberFret. Good Luck!:p

also you might want to think about buying a USED guitar...if you are lucky you may find one that sombody bought and quit trying to play....sometimes you can get a pretty decent guitar in decent condition for less than it would be new....but BEWARE....salesmen are still salesmen....if i were you id take someone with you who already plays....to help you scope things out...thats what i did :)
