Hey I just got a guitar like a week ago, and the only real problem I'm having is that my fingers tend to touch more than one string at a time. Esp. on the G chord, my first finger on A hits the D chord. Anyone have any ideas about dealing with this? and no, I don't have quarter thick fingers or anything I'm pretty normal, well except I can palm a baseketball, but thats just becasue my fingers are long not thick.

When playing chords, you should arc your fingers rather than laying them flat across the fretboard - use the tips of your fingers on the strings.
Check out the First Fret and the Chords sections for more information.
Well, if you've played on an acoustic nylon string before, switching to an electric or a steel string acoustic with the narrow neck might be a bit awkward at first, however, this will go away after 15 mins of playing or so.
If you are new to the guitar, the problem is a common one. As the other guy says, you have to arc your fingers. As an exercise, gently touch your fingertip on a string, then, press the string down so that it makes a clean sound. Repeat this with different fingers on different strings. You have to watch out that you touch the string only with the tip of your finger and that your finger forms an arc. Especially the ring and pinky finger tend to "collapse", so practice them carefully.
Start step by step, if you can't fret a note correctly, it makes no sense to try playing songs. If you skip the basics, you will regret it later...
