Hi, Just joined this forum, and wanted to say hi. My story is that I had an intrest in guitar when I was younger, but didn't practise enough. Now that I'm 23, I feel it is time to start learning again.

So I got a guitar from my gf dad and I've been practising. It went out of tune, and because I don't have my "tuning ear " yet, I couldn't quite get it to be the right pith/sound. So I took it to a shop who said that it could't be tuned because it was old,too much tension and the bridge would lift off somthing like that.

Cos I'm poor, the cheapest they had (59 pounds = 118 dollars i think) was nice, and I do want it.However can't get it right now,so its practising on a slightly out of tune guitar.

Anyway I'm probably boring you.Knowing what to learn is a bit tricky and I don't want to miss any important stuff, so right now I'm just concentrating on chords and exercises that enable me to learn the notes on the fretboard(when i was younger, i had to have people show me how to play a tune. Now I feel that I should be able to look a piece of music and play it).

Complicated tabs is still a jungle to me.

Anyway I'm rambling,I'll hope to be part of this community and learn lots.Talk to me,leave a reply

P.S - My aim is to be able to play layla, summer of 69,tears in heaven and god gave rock and roll to you very good.:D

hmm... tears in heaven is a rather easy song to play, however, it is fingerpicked. I don't know where to get a correct tab, I've got a DVD where you can see Clapton play it so I learnt it from there. It's probably a good idea to get a tab book for it from a music store.
Same for Layla...
