in the enter sandman tab there is a part where it indicated /7 slide. Does this mean u slide from an open string to seven, from seven to an open string. from and open string to seven and then back to an open string?

i tryed all three theories and non of them sound right. Enlighten me.

If you have the tab book, then look in the front, there is a legend for those things.
If not, then remember this:
first of all, look at the direction of the slide, it's going up from left to right, there for it's sliding up.
There is no note before the slide, but there is one afterwards, and that is 7.
Therefore we know that it is sliding up to the 7, but not from where.
So from where is basically arbitrary, but generally from an open string. Listen to the song, it's a fast slide, so you don't really notice where the slide starts.

Just pick a spot that sounds good. If it is too hard for you to start on the open string and slide up then start the slide from a little bit higher on the neck.

When you see /7, you can either go from 0 to 7, 1 to 7, 2 to 7, 3 to 7, 4 to 7, 5 to 7, or 6 to 7.
To do this slide you:
1)put your finger on a fret before the seventh fret (for starting no where on the string, skip to 1b)
2)strike the string
3)slide your finger to the right of the fretboard (for rightys)
4)stop sliding when you get to the seventh fret

1b)strike the string
2b)put your finger on the first fret
3b)goto to 3

That takes me back to my programming days somewhat, heh

when you are sliding and it doesnt specify a starting point for the slide it means your fretting hand has momentum up or down the string before you pluck the string. you should not really have a specific starting note. otherwise it would tell you to have a specific starting note.

so to put it in step form like toast did.

1) start sliding your fretting hand up to the 7th fret from somewhere nice and low
2) before you get your fretting hand to the 7th fret pluck the string
3) stop sliding when you get to the 7th fret

there is only a split secong between when you start the slide and when you pluck the string.
anyways the point is dont have a starting note.

heh...this slide just dont sound right for me...blah

when i slide to the 7th fret...i have to strike the string again right.

so i stike the string, slide to 7, strike it again at 7

otherwise it would be a legato if i'm not mistaken.
