Can anyone tell me what some good bass half stacks or louder combos are. The lead guitarist in the band I'm in is getting a 60 watt tube amp so I need to match that power. Probably under 700 dollars but I could save up to probably 1000 if I wait long enough. Right now we are playing some jazz covers but we will probably be playing classic rock and more general rock too.

I know I saw one half-stack in my Musicians Friend that was $600. It probably isn't very good though. So I would need about 1300 for the head and the cab? Does it matter if the cabs are cheaper.

true... but the vombo is like 260 with out the extra cab and you will need about that much... i got a 200 watt full stakc and it JUST barley holds up to a 150 watt half stack
also ampeg makes alot of good combos with wattage you might need with their BA series
www.ampeg.com
just they are expensive

- Yea my friend said they made good amps. Of course that was when I was starting out so I had no need for something that powerful and expensive. So I got a 15 watt Crate.

I managed to get two Crate BT350 Thunderbass Amp Heads on eBay.
Both around 200.00. Each can thump out 350 watts. Ampeg makes
great heads and cabs but like said above...costly. You may want
to go to two cabs, a 210 plus a 15 or 18, running off the single
head. I run that way sometimes and it's okay...sometimes I just
use the 210 (Fender BXR) or HiWatt 115. The Crate heads have a
tube preamp section (12AX7) that gives a good Ampeg sound. A
super head is a Trace Elliot Series 7...Awesome power/sound for
only 150 watts out...Sometimes seen on eBay for about 200.00
