I need an good distortion or effect pedal, not too expansive. It has to be of good quality. I read the heavy metal boss thread but that pedal is rather expansive here in Holland. So any other suggestions?!?

What about a Danelectro Distortion pedal? Maybe an Ibanez Tonlock Distortion which costs $100 here in the US, j/k. If you want something that is realy inexpensive, then try a Roktek Distortion pedal, they only cost $15 in the US, but I dont know how much they would cost after they get sent overseas.

I don`t know, the cheapest good pedal I can get here is about $80. But I don`t have much experience so thats why Iam asking it here. I can get an Boss heavy metal pedal for about $170.

Then go for the BOSS if thats what you really want. But what I would suggest is go to the store and try out as many pedals as you can and see which one you like most, if it costs too much, save up the extra money and get it.

BOSS GT-6!!!!!!
hehe, just joking. Just DON'T get a Boss MZ-2 Metalizer. It's crap! It's too dry and raspy, not good distortion there. Try the Boss MT-2 or Zoom Tri-metal. Those are the only distortion pedals I know of offering 3 way(band) eq.

Id get the MZ-2, if its dry and raspy, it would suit the type of music I play when I get P.O.ed. I like dry, raspy, and HEAVY distortion, it suits my persona.

Yeah, I tried the Boss MT-2, I think. It was an good pedal. But it costs alot here in Holland. Any other suggestions?

I'm not a fan of pedal distortion. I like amp distortion. So I don't really pay attention to pedals much. The best distortion tone always comes out of an amp head, like the Peavey 5150, Peavey Triple XXX, etc.

I agree here. I think the best distortion comes from the amp. Use a footswitch to go from clean to crunch.

Also alot of times it doesn't matter what pedal you use if you don't set up your amp properly. For example I find if I zero out my mids and boost the bass and treb to 10 I get a decent heavy metal sound.

Remember you can only get close to the sound you are copying. Most guitarists on stage cannot duplicate their own studio sound exactly. Its just, well, different.

Peace!
