View Full Version : question : does it pay for me to learn ear training...

i have been teaching myself the guitar for about a year and seven months. the problem is that i have sensinueral hearing loss -nerve damage- in my left ear making it really hard to hear well and theres the chance that i am currently losing hearing in my right ear do to sound exposure so my question is should i try to learn ear training? i suppose i should, should i wait until i am a better guitar player? i dont know advice will be much appreciated, thank you :)

if you're thinking about becoming a proficient musician, then you're going to have to train your ear. It'll help lots for when jamming and stuff. Btw you should start training your ear ASAP.

YES... TRAIN YOUR EARS.....

also get some hearing protection.... I have high end fall out form standing in front of my amp... it doesn't heal. If you intend on playing an electric very loud for very long... get some good (and I mean good) ear plugs. It's no fun playing if you can't hear it!!!
