I am planning on buying a new bass amp for practicing in my room. I currently have a crappy 10 watt amp and I want a new one. So what you people recommend? What watt is best?

I was thinking of getting a Hartke 35 watt amp but I'm not sure if I want to pay £189. I am prepared to pay it but I am just wondering if there are any other good quality amps that I should consider before parting with my hard earned cash!

Thanks.

I've seen (but never played - my mistake) a lot of practice amps but ended up with the Pignose Hog 20 because it is (also) battery operated and can travel with me.

I also use headphones with my Digitech RP-300 Pedal so I can play anytime I want.

well if your gonna be playing with other guitarists i suggest no less then 100 watts... i have a 50 watt practice amp and it is VERY hard to hear when playing with a 40 watt guitar amp.

BUT!! if your jsut using it to practice or play by yourself then i say grab it.. any other good amp that is worth getting is gonna run you up to 300 bucks plus american.. i dont know how much that is in Euros.. but i think 189 is pretty good for an amp like that euro OR American

I've also found an Ibanez SW65 Bass Amp for £199. It's 65 watts. Not sure which one to go for.

He's from England. He spends British Pound Sterling. England doesn't use Euros.

I know because I recently moved back to the States in Feb. The last time I was in London was in Aug. We actually went on to Ireland for a week.

I lived in Germany for 5 years.

hartke has a cost efficent bass combo. i was looking into it until i decided to go straight for a nice gigging setup. i did a lot of homework on cost efficent ones so im not sure what is the best quality wise but cost efficent...that hartke combo. nice quality, top line brand but basstallica pointed out to me that is a very "metal" bass amp meaning it has a nice "crunch" in its sound. carvin also has a nice one. a combo with a redline head and a 15" speaker. 400$ not sure what that translates into pounds...something like a 1:3 ratio just not sure which is which!:D ....check out americanmusical.com for the hartke and carvin.com for, well....the carvin.:D

I re-read your original post. At 10 watts it sounds like you alreay have a practice amp. Sounds like you want something more substantial.

really i dont remember saying that and if i did i going to change my statement to saying... " i wouldnt say hartke is a metal amp alot of "punk" and "rock" bands use them with bass amps i dont you can classify them as metal ro rock or what not as you can with guitar amps... with bass its just kinda the sound you get from them.
