im trying to workout the tempo of a song i know its 140 something but not exactly sure and it gets frustrating, so could someone tell me the key things to know when working a tempo? oh i dont have a metronome if that even matters
if you are trying to come up with the numerical temp (140, 120 etc etc). You either need to do some math (Find the beat, tap your foot, count the taps in a minute divide by 60 etc)
Or you need to get a metronmome of SOME kind that actually lets you have that kind of control.
Start at 120 (most common beat count) and work up or down from there.
Without a metronome your job will be a lot harder.

Go to powertab.net, and search for the song you want. If they have it, the tempo will be shown at the beginning of the score. That's how I do it. I just bought a cheap metronome the other day to help me out with it too.
