I've been wanting to explore the Indian and Eastern styles of guitar and get a feel for the whole psychadelic sound, and was wondering if anyone could point me to some websites, books, or any other media that might help me out.

Thanks in advance.

Well, the Phrygian mode is the diatonic scale that sounds Indian-ish.

listen to some old marty friedman and jason becker stuff. they were called cacophony.

marty is an expert in the easter flavor (think exotic japan sounding). I dont' know the exact name of the scale names that he uses though. Mabey minor penatonic or something.

yup. that was a looong time ago. :p

Was he doing solo project stuff when he recorded "valley of eternity" and "realm of the dragon"? Or was that from hawaii? those are two of my favorite songs. His clean tone on those songs is fabulous.
