An interval is the distance between two notes measured from the root.
There are 12 notes and any note can act as a root note and then all of the
other notes distances can each be measured from it.The notes (intervals) will
be anywhere from one fret away to 12 frets away from a root note on a
single string.But the guitar has 6 strings and is set up so that the same
notes can be played in more than one location.

I will use an A root note as an example.
(remember this fact when you get to the bottom)
