How about a section for musicians available/wanted for ppl to get together?

I believe that is one of the uses of the music lounge.

Reviving an old thread in lieu of creating a duplicate thread, but I think having a place where musicians can post their services offered and services needed would be handy. For example, if I were looking for lessons, I'd have a place to post an ad, or if someone is offering lessons then they can post an ad. I've browsed the music lounge forum and it rocks, but it doesn't serve this purpose.

Just an idea.
Thanks

This is an International forum with under a couple hundred regular users. That is really a needle in a haystack to find someone to jam with. Your best option is a local music store. Often you can find a musician's wanted bulletin board.

Like Shawn said, check out your local music store for ads, or to post an ad yourself. You could probably ask around school too (assuming you haven't already graduated) to find other people that are interested.

I've been on this site since 2001, and I've only found 4 people in my country, let alone my area!!

I like the idea... but who has the time to drive cross country to jam? or take a flight for that matter (images of me dragging an amp thru customs)? I have only found one person near me on these boards, and he was looking to buy his first guitar. I have couple of beginners to teach right now, I'm not looking to add more. I think HB Bill is the closest to me and he's about 5 or 6 hours away. no offense bill, but that's a bit too far for me to drive to just jam... now throw in a couple beers, and that might be a different story (just joking).

Beyond the suggestion already given (music store and school), I have had luck by getting out and playing open mic nights and tell the crowd what I'm looking for (lot's of musicians go to hear open mic nights).

I met 'Shuv' on here and he happens to live about 300 yards from me.

Sum1 lives about an hour away... I'm not sure where he lives, but pretty much all of CT is an hour away.
