Are you talking about tablature, or standard notation?

hmmm, I think I posted something like this already in another thread, but, who cares:

standard notation:
Take a piece of it and study it alone, without playing. Keep in mind that the violin-key opens up the g-line (the second, counting from the most downward). Then count the notes out and write the names underneath like (ggag cb, ggag dc, ggg'e' cba, f'f'e' cdc). After a little while you will get used to combining the right names with the right notes.
Also it maybe useful to lisen to a piece of music while having the notation in front of you. Try to read along........

...be patient (I still have problems, when it comes to notes on helping-lines) and good luck.

I don't think I have seen another free Internet site with a method on how to read standard notation. If someone eles has, post a link. You might try getting yourself a beginning guitar method book. You said that you looked at the method here at Cyberfret.com and did not understand. Did you start with the primer, and then learn then notes on the 1st string etc? Let us know where your confusion is and maybe we can help you.

Here the primer of the reading method here on Cyberfret.com
