What do you mean by "sheet music" and "____ posistion"?
By sheet music do you mean chord listings? Standard notation? Tab?
By "posistion" do you mean a way to play a certain chord?

it appears there isnt, how do i know to use the notes past the 5th fret. like past the high A, thats my question. I just dont understand how to know when to play higher up on the fretboard from standard sheet music.
i hope thats understandable and i hope someone can help me.
The how many positions question has a number or answers, the commonest answer is that there are 5 different positions, that are then repeated further up the neck, the method that teaches these positions is commonly known as the CAGED system, it can be searched for by that name on the internet.
Standard music notation has a limitation for guitar music, it has no way of showing you where a note should be played.
Tab notation for the guitar gives you the location on the guitar where notes are to be played, but it contains no rhythm or dynamics notation.
If you check out some of the music available from www.powertabs.net, each piece is shown in Standard and Tab notation, it will also play the music for you to give you an idea of the sound.
I hope this is helpful.
