this is a barre chord with the root on the 5th string.

You play it by barring the 7th fret (5th to 1st string) with your index finger (you can mute the 6th string with its tip) and barring the 2nd, 3rd and 4th string on the 9th fret with your ring finger.

There's a section on barre chords in the "Chords" section @cyberfret.com. Consult it if you have problems with the chord fingering.

Well, there are two ways to play this chord.

1. Use your 1st finger to barre the strings at the 7th fret and use your 3rd finger to barre the 9th fret. If you do it this way you will have to bend your 3rd finger back in such a way that it enables you to play the high e string cleanly. This is not easy. Most people mute the high e string with the 3rd finger to make the chord easier. But if the song requires the chord to have the high note (e string, 7th fret) played then you have to bend your finger back further.

2. Use your 1st finger to barre the 7th fret, as before, but this time use your 2nd, 3rd and 4th fingers on the 9th fret (2nd finger on the D string, 3rd finger on the G string and 4th finger on the B string). This requires a very hard stretch and is not easy.

Try both of these, but I think the 1st option is easier, but it's still quite difficult.

alright thanks. i can play the 2-fingered method just fine (not so good at the 4-fingered one).
