View Full Version : Time For Posting Replies?

There seems to be only a certain amount of time for you to reply to a post in a thread before you get logged out, so by the time you've finished your reply and you click "post reply" it asks for you to log in again and when you do your message has gone and you've got to write out all that again. Has anyone else had this problem?? I find it very annoying, it's happened to me a couple of times when posting long replies and to have to type it all again is very frustrating. I may be a slow typer but there must be a better option than this?

What I do if I am having a problem like this is to use something like Word to write the replies (I can then use the spell checker) and then cut and paste into the reply box here.

I've never done that but I don't think you should get logged out whilst replying. If there is a time limit for inactivity it should made longer and replying to a thread shouldn't mean inactivity.

If you sit idle for a while, you'll get logged out but it usually takes 10-15 minutes for that to happen to me.

There is not time limit, you should remain logged in. With the forum upgrade, the cookie that the forum software uses may have become corrupt. Manually log out (top right)...this should clear the cookie that the forum is using. If that does not work you may need to manually delete the cookie. Then log back in, and there is a check box that says "remember me". Then any time you come to the forum as log as the cookie on your computer is still working, you will automatically be logged in. It may also be an issue with your security setting for your browser, they may be set to high and not accepting the cookie that keeps you logged in. And last if you use the AOL browser.......don't.

I also always write my replies outside of the forum text box and then cut and paste. I use my email program. You should do this, especially when writing a long replies.
