I have a question about the tablature of Randy Rhoads lick on

http://www.cyberfret.com/licks-tricks/randy-rhoads/lick1/index.php

It has a bend 5b2. I get 5b7 would be bend string from fifth fret till it sounds like it is seventh. Is it just that just before it has a 4b(6) which I take to mean bend the fourth fret to sixth fret sound. So I have this doubt that it is asking fifth fret to be bent two half steps (which might be the notation, but the reference to tablature didn't specify anything satisfyingly).

And I could just be straight and ask you how do I bend a string from the fifth fret so it sounds like it is on the second fret?

It's actually a mistake :) The 'b' should be a 'p' for pull-off.

Thanks,

I was hoping I hadn't lost faith in the laws of physics (bending a string goes lower in pitch).

I'll try it with a pull off :)

Well, according to Toast's Theory where 1 = 2 and 2 != 1 (does not equal), the transcription is correct. Bend up to the second fret. How you ask? You musn't bend with your finger, no no. This is where it gets tricky. You must bend with your mind.

There is no string.

Actually, you could bend from 5th fret to the second by having your finger at the 2nd fret, bent up to pitch with the 5th fret and then releasing back to the second fret.
