Hello,

I am new at guitar playing and have recently printed out a few of my favorite songs in tab to begin practicing. One thing all of these have in common is this:

E---------0----0---0---------5-----7--7---------------
B---------1----1---1-----------5----------------------
G---------2----2---2-------------5--------------------
D-----------------------------------------------------
A--------------------------------------1--------------
E---------2----2---3---------------------------------- (example)

How Do I play the strings D & A in this example for the 1st 3, how do I play the strings B, G, D, E for the last one - there is no X for mute and there is no 0 for open. Most of the guitar tab I have come across has this in it and I don't know how to play it. Someone Please Help! This is driving me mad, I can't find anything on the internet that will tell me how to play those strings.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Curtis.

It looks as if they are finger picked.

If there were XX's on the A & D strings then that would indicate muted and you could strum the chord.

As for the 1 and 7 a the end ??? What a reach. I would question the reality of the notes being played together. I would change the position of the 7 on the 1st string to another string using the same note like to the 3rd string 4th fret (if memory serves me).

Good luck.

[1] Yep. Or hybrid picked.

[2] Yep. That or possibly the tabber tabbed it incorrectly, but most likely it's correct.

[3] Well, the 1 cames after the 7, not at the same time.
