Notes can appear in more than one place on the fretboard.

Have a look at power tab.

www.powertabs.net of www.power-tab.net

this gives music notation for and tab at the same time.

The standard notation contains the rhythm info that the tab lacks and the tab gives the fingering information that the standard notation lacks.

It will also play the music for you on your PC (MIDI) so you can hear what you are supposed to play.

As each note can appear at multiple places on te fretboard you need to locate all the notes in eac phrase and pick the fretboard location that gives easiest access to all of the notes. It is not easy, try drawing diagrams of necks and plotting the notes to find the easiest looking positions
