Anyone know anything about this guitar: Peavey Wolfgang Special? Anyone played one? What do you think?

Personally the look of a guitar is quite important and I think the wolfgang is sooooo nice. Plus, the guy from Muse played one, so I'd definately get one. I've not played one, but I was going to have a look in the next couple of days. If I find one, I'll let you know what I think.

I've played a few. Very nice guitar. The ones I played were setup pretty poorly so it was tough to get a real good feel of it. But just looking at it and hearing it, it's a very nice guitar. Peavey makes good stuff!

:) Cheers guys. The reason I brought this up is that a shop in Stockholm has them for half price. I'm going over there in the next couple of days to try one out. I'll let you know... Be interested to hear if you get a hold of one Fury.
By the way, anyone notice that http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/sid=020131130212213089057252708394/content/g=home/index.html is selling the Santana SE for 399 US dollars? Seems like a F-ing good deal!

I got a Wolfgang Standard and looove it! I've played the Special and it is also a fine guitar. The main difference is that the standard has an arched top (the special is flat) and the neck is Birdseye maple with tilted headstock (special has hard maple, flat heastock). Also the standard has a tone pot as well as a volume control, the special has volume pot only.

The sound and feel is different, not that one is better than the other just different. See which you like.

Peace!

actually i recently bought a wolfgang special. (Black with trem) they are very nice, the feel of the neck is great and the sound is awsome. They don't have an arched top, or tone pot. I don't miss those features anyway. They all come with cases which is pretty nice to add. The only feature that it dosen't come with that i wanted is the birdseye maple neck. oh well. The guitars are very simple and made to rock.

Very helpful stuff. I have now played, and like both guitars. A LOT! The standard is about 300 dollars more. Wondering if the extra expense is worth it???? Anyone got anymore ideas on the differences? What would you guys do? And why? Any advice would be great. Cheers.

It's all about what you want. I chose the Standard. I liked the looks, sound and feel better. To me it was worth it. I'm not saying that its better for you or anyone else. Eddie plays both and I'm sure for different reasons. It is lower priced for a reason. Materials (birdseye, pearl tuners, electronics), Tilted neck, and, face it, a carved top costs more.

Peace!

:) I did it! Bought myself a standard. Black stoptail. Feels and sounds wicked! Couldnt find anything better, especially for the price - which was about 900 USdollars. Now down to it - I have some serious experimenting to do. Can you reccommend any positions for sound. I know it depends on what kind of sound I'm looking for (this is my first electric, been playing for a few years.) - - - any advice would do - just some tips on how to get as wide a range of sound as possible - from clean to hot. Also, what should I look out for - they said Ive got just a few months of free adjustments. Thanks for any help. Feel like I'm starting at the beginning.

Congrats Dude! You have gotten a premier piece of gear!

1. Read your manual. Good info at www.van-halen.com too
2. Keep it in your case when your finished playing it.
3. Playing it often keeps the neck from drying. Of course that shouldn't be a problem!
4. Toggle switch up (bridge pickup) - metal
5. Toggle middle (both pickups) - blues / acoustic
6. Toggle down (neck pickup) - acoustic, real warm

PS - Drooling on it is not reccommended!

Peace!
