View Full Version : Name for my band
Any ideas on what I could call my band?
We do stuff like Led Zep, Deep Purple and G'n'R, any (good) suggestions would be much appreciated.
Depands what you are looking for. You wanting a name that sounds cool from the time you start or are you wanting one that grows on people as they here it. Like the guys from "Korn" said "Korn is a stupid name for a band, but we wanted to show that as long as the music is good any name can become cool".
Altho, having said that, if you called it "Fury Pink Slippers" or some crap like that i'd beat you up myself ;) hehe.

haha i currently play in a blues band called 'The Mother****ers' - think that'll ever grow on people?
I like the name "Sonic Death Monkeys" (from the movie "High Fidelity"), especially if your band plays music that doesn't sound like your band was called "Sonic Death Monkeys" (if you know what I mean :))

You could play the 'Mark and Lard' band name game. Write random words on seprerate peices of paper and pull them out of a hat and see what you get:
Bell Curtain
Orchard Bird
Luddites Farm
The're just some I came up with earlier.

There was a programme on telly' a while back called Game On and in an episode there was a guitarist called The Fury. With a name like The Fury you'd expect some big beefer of a man with a big beard like a Hell's Angel type, but when you actually see him it's just some little weedy student whose awfully polite, so some of my freinds started calling me that as a joke.
There you have it, not very interesting or amusing, but true.
Me and the guys were walking through a shopping centre looking for shops with a weird names that we could plaerise as a band name. We came across a kids shop called Bambino, y'know the Italian word for baby. Then someone said, "what do you call those people who are all white". Albinos. "what about The Albino Bambino?"
"No 'cos some people would pronounce The Albyno Bambino" (like the American pronunciation which wouldn't rhyme). So I think we might go for The Albyno Bambyno (all of it pronounced in the American style so it rhymes and is different.
I liked the name "Against thre Light " too.

-Denature.
-The Telephone Repairmen.
-Salivating Hounds at the Gates of Hell.
-Myocardial Infarction.
-Minesweeper.
-Solitaire.
-Tiny cubes of chedder cheese on ****tail sticks.
-Spork.
-Chimney sweep.
-Land ahoy, me hearties.
-MilkymilkymilkyMMM.
-Boney forehead.
-Bipeds through the ages.
-What lurks under your bed if not darkness and scary monsters?
-Mayfly soap opera.
Was gonna say Hubris, but its already taken by some dodgy 70s band apparently.
You probably wont use any of these messed up suggestions, but they should at least get your mind working so you can think of something original, which is a million times better than nicking someone elses idea anyways.
By the way, that last sentence would also make a good band name :-)
THax, those were hilarious....and thought provoking

Epithet

The two bands I'm in are called Epithet (hence the name) and
Fiend Angelical
The right name will come to you eventually. Just play, and develope musically, and sooner or later things will come together, including the name.
(btw, fiend angelical is from romeo and juliet, and our bass player's sister did a big college report on the word epithet. So if you're into literature, names are easy to come up with)
