before i bought my acoustic i had an electric my cousin gave me and i broke 2 or 3 strings on it because i was strumming too hard (stupid me)
i was wondering, are acoustic strings made stronger than electric strings so that you can strum them harder to get a better volume?

Yes, Acoustic strings are thicker, so they break less often. But.....don't strum harder :) Strumming a string too hard will not only break strings, but give you a lousy sound. The strings will buzz, they will pull out of tune...... You can play heavy music, without having a heavy hand on the guitar. And if you broke 2 or 3 strings on a guitar while strumming, you are strumming WAY to hard. Loosen up your wrist. Angle the pick so that it is going with the strings and not slicing against them. Relax :) If you are looking for more volume, go electric and turn it up.
