Hi friends..

I got a 40 watts Solid State which i run thru a korg AX1500 G. Now the problem is that the amp is noisless when turned all the way up w/o the guitar and cables but gets noisy when cables are connected and ultimately noisy with the guitar connected. I opened up my guitar and the common grounding rail seems OK. Also the amp is grounded well.(tested it). But noise seems to reduce when i touch strings/brig etc. Any help for frusty Joe?
:(
Thanks
Nikhil

That is normal. Every guitar does that. It is grounding differences that create the buzz. Just keep your hands on metal parts of your guitar. :)

If your guitar has single-coil pickups (like on most Fenders) It will tend to buzz when the pickup switch is is certain positions. Also, single coil pickups will buzz much more if near something electromagnetic (like flourescent lights). If you are using a Fender I'd suggest new pickups if it's a guitar atleast 5 years old.

What he was describing is normal. It actually has nothing to do with the pickups. It's just grounding differences between the guitar, you, and the amp. But you are correct that single coils will buzz... but that's just the usual 60-cycle hum.
