HI everyone :D
I have a question to ask about practicing . I would like to know what other people practice so that I can see what I need to focus more on. Right now I practice the basic cords like Em, E, C, Dm, G, Am, A. As well as I practice this blues scale which is good cause you have to change fingers mostly used are the open second third and fifth positions. After that I get right down to songs that I have found online or that are in books that I have. So that is what I practice. Any infromation would be of alot of help to me.
Thanks alot The_Doors_Girl

There is a lot information about how to play the guitar, and it can be overwhelming if your look at it as one big lump. Just try to learn one piece of the puzzle at a time. Sometimes it takes a partial understanding of many topics before any one piece make complete sense.
Here is a list of general topics that you should try and work into your practice schedule. You will not necessarily work on everything everyday, but over the period of a week, you should try to cover some aspect in all of these areas. These are some pretty broad topics, so you are probably going to be working on a more specific topic that will relate to your own playing. How much of one topic you work on will depend on your interests and styles of music that you play.
Technique
----Developing strength and independence in your fingers. Scales, picking exercises, arpeggios, etc.
Basics
----Learning the names of the notes on the neck. Learning guitar techniques like hammer-ons, pull-offs, vibrato, etc.
Ear Training
----Learning songs by ear, or developing your ear to hear certain chords and intervals.
Learning Songs
----The more songs the better, by ear or tablature.
Improvisation
----Learn to create your own solos. Practice improvising with specific scales. Learn other guitarists solos and learn to incorporated the licks into your own.
Chords
----Build your vocabulary of chords.
Listening
----This means listening to something that you normally do not listen to.
Theory
---Learn the mechanics of how music is put together.
