The Stone Roses songs have really great bass lines. I'm not sure if it will be your usual style of music but I recomend checking out their debut album called 'The Stone Roses'. They were kind of an indie/dance/rock 4-peice from the early 90's.

Check out 'Archives of pain' by the manic street preachers. This bass riff is the main hook in the song. Its my favourite ever intro to a song. Its just all quiet and then this scary sounding bass line kicks in. Good stuff.

" " " " Roundabout
Geezer Butler Black Sabbath War Pigs

Geddy Lee Rush By Tor and the Snow Dog

If you can do the solo from Dance Of Eternity by Dream Theater, the way John Myung does it (without a pick) then you will be a god. Also check out anything from Victor Wooten (The master of the four strings). Also, playing anything by Dream Theater is like playing a solo.

Thats the attitude! Glad to hear it! Ok, Here's another very very killer selection to listen to.I used to play this one also as a favorite when I was in my late teens. As very hard and complex as it was to play, it only seemed to easy to learn, as the notes were simply that obvious.
Try the song "La Villa Stragiato" by Rush
Once again, our good ole friend Geedy Lee on Bass.
Hey, also, while I've got you on here. I can tell those who are interested, where to find a free trial of the best tab writing program I have ever found. It tabs not just guitar, but bass, or both, as well as both at once, and also lyrics, all of which are printable.
I can also tell you where to find the ew wave editor, that will allow you to record 4 tracks, as well as where to sign up for free monthly guitar or bass guitar lessons. Email me to find out. Spread the word!

Try playing solos done by other instruments. Jaco did Charlie Parker's Donna Lee (sax). Pretty much anything by Jaco works :) Also look at "If You Want Me To Stay" by Sly and the Family Stone.
Listen to some jazz and try to pick up the horn solos.
