For those of you who have Marshall Amps, what are some settings you use?

Well I don't use a marshall amp but I use ussaully my bass and middle 3/4 of the way up (on my amp it says about 7.5 but it only goes up till 10) and I crank the treble all the way up......

I use an Ibanez, and my settings are ...

Bass: 000%
Middle: 100%
Treble: 100%

... overdrive really makes a difference in the sound also, might wanna mess it around a wee bit. ;)

I have a Mesa Boogie (the retro tweed), MAN, that thing rocks. I didn't know I was supposed to have "fixed" amp settings. I set my amp to what I'm playing albeit style or lead/rythym. it also depends on where I'm at (home. practice, or stage) and what (if any) effects I'm using. I also set my amp to mimic the song style if I'm doing a cover tune. Another factor is which guitar I'm using... I have 2 hollow body electrics and a "strat". Anyone whos played a hollow body electric understands the world of feedback, wanted and un-wanted. I guess I just turn everything to 11.

how i set up my marshall is completely dependent on what style im playing, where im playing etc.

so i dont really have a 'setting' as such

although i usually set everything to full (inc. gain set at 20/20, naturally) and fiddle with my guitars on-board controls for fine tuning.

There was a great amp settings suplement in last months Total Guitar Mag (UK) 33 players and songs try and get hold of the suplement if you can

Bass 20%
Middle 0%
Treble 90%

Gain 60 - 70 %

Reverb 70%
Chorus 50%

Volume 80%

Just the right combination to make the neighbours' heads explode.

On a Marshall amp I wouldn't even think of turning the gain up beyond 50%, because they make a silly, fuzzy, crunchy blurgy sound if you drive them too hard.

When I'm playing blues lead, I usually have my distortion around 4, amp volume 3, guitar volume 6, Low 4, Mid 7, Hi 8. Hope that helps. If I'm doing something hendrixian, I'll turn the gain up almost all the way, guitar volume up all the way, amp volume around 1.5, Low and Hi at 10, Mid at 0.

nowadays i like my gain at 20/20, lows and highs at 10/10, mids at 4/10 and volume as high as possible :)
