Hey people, i just bought a Epiphone Les Paul Special 2 and to me it sounded really good and i liked it. just wanted to know what you guys thought about it. PEter

yeah, getting a new axe is always great... man, if it feels right for you then thats all that matters... like someone else said recently in the forum, there is no generic "right" guitar... *but* you might want to get some real pickups, those "gibson design" ie. "nothing to do with gibson" ones aren't much to listen to...

I'm sitting here playing my Epi Special as I type this, so I feel qualified to offer an opinion. Not a fabulous guitar, but for under $200 it's a solid learners insturment and beats the hell out of a Squier, which is the main competition in this price range. The tone is solid, nothing to wow but it's very servicable, and with a decent amp (Vox Pathfinder + Epi Special makes for a nice bedroom combo) it works for a wide variety of blues, rock, metal and jazz (not as well jazz as the others). I wouldn't play it in public without getting the tuners changed, because the stock ones are awful and I've had the thing just detune while I play. In the end though, you said you liked the sound and that's by far the most important thing.
