I have had my Metal Zone pedal for some time now, and I like it, but I have a question for anyone who has been dealing with metal guitar for a while:

I recently tought myself "Creeping Death" by Metallica, and liked what I heard through the amp, but that was apparently because I was standing right in front of the thing because when I recorded myself playing it, it was too low and "bassy", you know what I mean. I played with the Equalization a little and it got a little better, but I still wasn't producing that 1980's Metal sound.

The first power chords in "Creeping Death" sound kinda like the "Iron Man" chords in respect to the metal sound effect. How can I, if I can at all, produce that sound with the Boss?

Well it may not be your amp. Your disatisfaction with your recording could be due to the recording equipment you used. If you used a tape recorder with the built-in mic yeah you're going to get a lot of unwanted lows with it. Try using the same recording stuff you used, just back it up from the amp a bit. If the tone sounds good to you when you play but not when you record, it isn't the amp. Though recording your amp with just about any equipment always sounds a bit different than what it sounds like when you play.
