I was just wondering what current bands are out there that have musical, lyrical, (use theory), and just raw talent?

I have only found a few,Incubus , 311,Blur and so on.

There is so much crap out on the radio I don't really even listen to it anymore. So I am done. Leave something interesting.

the first band id reccommend to anyone is radiohead. they are diverse in their range of styles, and use many different instruments to get their desired sound. if theres one band out there trying to do something different with music today, its radiohead.

their early stuff (pablo honey) is basic indy/guitar music, but the bends and ok computer are essential albums as they are striking and emotional in both their lyrical and musical content.

from the traditional rock-outs of songs like just and the jazz-rock fussion of songs like national anthem to the sorts of songs that only fall into the category "radiohead" (in limbo for example", you wont like it all at first, but youll love some of it.

I'd recommend Alice in Chains.

I just wanted to support the Radiohead sentiment. Agree with everything you say Highlander.

Well, since Incubus, 311 and Blur have been my favorite bands for quite a while now, and I also hate the radio and the mainstream crap, I'd say our musical tastes are pretty much the same.

Radiohead is interesting, for sure. You might like checking them out. I think that just listening to differant things is the best way to find out what you like, cause what you like might change a bit. Heck, Ive been listening to Extreme over the past couple days. Talk about raw talent... but I never thought I'd listen to a band like them. Just experiment. If you've gotta stick with the usual menu for a while, thats cool too.

Well I've gotta suggest Tool man. They are geniuses. The lyrics... so true, the drumming... man, its crazy =]. Alot of theory used in their stuff.
Also Rhapsody, Sonata Arctica, and Hammerfall

Actually, thats totally true. Tool is amazing. The time signatures they use and their song structures are nothing less then amazing. They're the tightest band Ive ever heard.
