View Full Version : Info on bass amps
I am needing a small bass amp. I need something that is lightweight, but still sounds decent. I don't know one brand from another. Does anyone have a recommendation. I have seen a Rogue 50w at Musician's Friend, but have no idea how good it is. Does anyone know anything about this amp. It is mainly for a practice amp, and may use it in a small church. I don't need the best since I am still just a beginner at bass playing. Thanks.

My bassist friend hates Rogue basses but recommends their amps. Since you are a beginner, I'd recommend you just find some cheap thing. Try it out, of course. 50 watts should be good enough for a church.

well... dunno about Rogue amps but i've tried Fender, Peavey Crate and Gallien-Krueger. if u want a new bass amp only for practice and small events, let me reccomend u the Peavey Basic 112 (50 watts). that was my first amp, and even throught the years, the quality sound was great. also any Crate bass combo will make the cut. just make sure that the amp haves the basic feaures like band band EQ (4 will do), pre gain and master volume...
Thanks for the info, it's_the_Sandman. Can't really try out a Rogue unless I find a used one or someone that has one, since they are mail order from Musician's Friend. I know someone that has a Rogue guitar amp and it sounds pretty good.
Donovan, thanks for your reply. I did in fact hear a Peavey Basic 112. I liked the sound of it real well. When I went to pick it up, I knew that it was a little heavier than what I wanted. I have a broken back and weight is important. Maybe I can get my wife to carry it around for me. I have a Peavey TNT 100 now, and it is way too heavy now that I am disabled.
Thanks
