If you play a 21 fret guitar, I've figured out a solution if you need a 22nd fret bend, or are learning a song that requires a 22nd fret.
Heres what to do for a 22nd fret bent 1 whole step
----------------------------
----------------------------
----7^(9)------------------ Bent the 7th fret g-string up 1 whole step
---------------------------- with a pinch harmonic. When picking the p.h.
---------------------------- try and pick it between the two humbuckers
---------------------------- (dont know about single coils) You'll find that
The sound of it matches a 22nd fret bend.
Just somethin I thought i'd share with you that i figured out.
Peace......... :p

or, you could just bend the 21 fret up 3 frets instead of 2.
itd also be a pain if you were shredding and had to jump all the way down there.. but good point nevertheless

lol you cant be accurate with a pinch harmonic pitch like that, there chaotic so you can have whatever you want out of them. IE its fretless.
there probably is a pitch in there that "matches a 22 fret bend" but your not going to be able to hit it reliably enough, should sound fine on its own if you just need a bit of squeal but if its say in harmony with a proper guitar ( :mad2: ) playing a higher/ lower part it will sound crap.
also theres no need to move down the fretboard, if you find pinch harmonics fretted at wherever you are fretting up the neck are to high then move the picking hand UP the string towards the headstock and do the pinch there instead............ experiment.

Well, to me the easiest strings to use pinch harmonics on are the G, B, and A. So I just picked an easy string and started playing around on it. So i guess i will experiment with it, and find u guys an easyier (i know i spelled it wrong) fret higher up............

so does that on bend work for bending any note on the 22nd fret?

Cool, that looks like an easy enough solution for those bends, and at least its a good concept, substituting pinch harmonics for frets that are tough to hit or that you don't have. I don't think its that hard to hit the pitch you want with a PH, you just have to practice, and hold your hand in the right place.

No, just the e string. Sorry i forgot to mention that!!!! :p

I've been in this condition a few times but the bend or pinch harmonic thing doesn't work for me all the time. What I do is continue on a lower or end at the root note in the scale figure at the highest frets. Not really that difficult but it's more of a sure thing than a gamble.

You can get the same note on the 15th fret of the b string and pinch right above the neck pickup (or exactly half way along with whats left of the string)
I find it a bit easier to get it consitant here.

that would be amazing if it worked for all of the strings

You can get notes like that on all the strings, but the others can all be played 5 frets higher on the next string up. On the high e, there is no higher string, so thats why he gave that shortcut. Pinch harmonics can still be used for other notes, that are hard to reach, though.

hmm.. i suppose it might be more practical to fret the 10 on the high e, and do a tap harmonic where the 22nd fret should be? or is that a harp harmonic?
yeah if you aint have a 22nd fret and want a high d you could also rise the pitch of the e string a half step and then play the old 21st fret...
of course it wont be easy to do that in a playin situation, the PH thing is not practical anyway so what gives?
dudes transpose the whole song or just get a longest axe, or if you dare then punish the e string and bend it to the hells (dont complain if string gives up)
theres no other effective solution.

thats pretty dumb saying to pick between the humbuckers, because not everyone has humbuckers and different guitars put there humbuckers in different places... so i think it would be one note out of tune
