well, a classical name for classical Guitar-music is Sor (Fernando), but there is loads of music out there, just go into a shop and look through the shelves.
Krieger did some nice stuff, Bizet too, and Küffner, Aguado, Frescobaldi are some names to look for, maybe you want to go for some medieval stuff as well (mostly anonymus) - you can find some good stuff on the net in this categorie. There are also some »translations« of not-for-guitar-composed music, like Mussorsky's »Pictures of an Exhibition«, some Bach things and so on - really there are loads. Just have a flip through the notebooks and read yourself into the melodies to see if you're gone like them......(it's good to know standard notation, btw)

In reading through some tab by Fernando Sor, I found a 2-string chord which seems to be very common in classical guitar. I generally play rock, and to play something like that in rock we would mute the strings between. In classical, do people play without picks, and hit one string with a thumb and one with an index finger? Heres the tab I was talking about:
||--------------0--|--3---0-----------
||--1-------1------|----------1-------
||------0----------|---------------0--
||-----------------|---------------2--
||--3======->hold==|=thru->=====------
||-----------------|------------------

The only classical song I know is Diary of a madman (Randy Rhoads/ozzy), which is classical/metal and sounds really good. It may be somthing worth looking at if you like classical and rock.
I think stairway to heaven is also concidered classical, although I may be wrong??? (stairway would be a good starting point if you don't already know it)

here's how I would play this:
---------------------- ring / ring ring -------------
middle ----- middle ---- / --------- middle ------
------- index ----------- / ------------------- middle
------------------------- / ------------------- index
thumb ----------------- / thumb ----------- (thumb)
I'm not quite sure, what the hold through means, you could just let it ring or you have to do all pickings as doubles with the thumb, you should at least renew the bassline at significant points....

You should listen to John Williams. He has done great songs like Cavatina(The Deer Hunter soundtrack) or The Godfather soundtrack. Real beautiful stuff.

Kind of an old topic, but I can clear up a few things about classical guitar. First of all, "hold through" simply means that you let the note ring (meaning you have to get it fretted). And you wouldn't renew the bass note unless the music specifically said to do it.
Also, generally speaking you should alternate your picking fingers when playing. So instead of playing three notes in a row with your ring finger, you might alternate between your middle and ring fingers. Basically, this is the classical version of alternate picking, and it is needed for fast playing. And besides, you might want to play these three notes using rest strokes, and that's impossible to do without alternating your fingers.

hi, Runer.....well the alternating picking is the advanced form, so I just gave the easiest way beforhand.....the thing with the hold-through, that's a matter of time, isn't it. I mean if I have two to four whole notes in the bass line bound together, the notation tells me to strike once and let it ring through the whole piece. But I definitely want to renew the bass line then, because there isn't any bassline hearable after the time of a little more time than a half note needs to be over. If you just let it ring out, then you have a problem on those.....
