Hey ESP_Viper, glad to see you made it in. It was getting lonely. And glad to see you get this thread up again... :)

***

Okay, here we go...

My favorite guitarist since the late 70's is Neal Schon, whom I had the great pleasure of meeting in person recently. :)

My other favorites include David Gilmour, Carlos Santana, B.B. King, Eric Johnson, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Alex Lifeson. There are some others, but these are the ones who I tend to listen to the most.

Bands include Journey, Santana, Pink Floyd, Supertramp, The Police, Loverboy, Foreigner, ELO, and Rush.

Hey Viper.
Seems I replied last night. Anyway,

I deep into the blues. The Delta Blues with a steel or glass slide.
Charlie Patton
Son House
Sleepy John Estes
Tampa Red
Blind Lemon Jefferson
Robert Johnson
Those guys were popular in the 20's to 60's of the last century, these guys layed the foundations of what we play today.

Newer artists,
Johnny Winter
Lonnie Mack
Johnny Guitar Watson
Jimmy Page
Jimi Hendrix
Leon Redbone

We all have our favorites, our own style. Yeah, yeah, I know I'm in left field on this board.

well...since the old forums are dead (but not forgotten)....might as well respond again over here in the new forums....
i was mistaken on the last one anyways...ONE other person mentioned my favorite....dave matthews....dmb has been my favorite band for several years and so...
but nobody mentioned tim reynolds? why? maybe nobody really thought of him because he tours with all kinds of different bands....filling in wherever needed...i dunno...but i saw him once in concert and he is incredible...and very deserving of respect...in my opinion....
also...possibly nobody has heard of a guy named phil keaggy? i wouldnt be surprised since he plays christian music....but he gives a one man show that just makes you wonder HOW! hes really talented...also worthy of respect...

Whoa! I cannot beleive my luck in finding you people! All my friends seem to adore nsync and the backstreet boys, I have always been the oddball, with my fathers musical influence and also my older brother, who told me about this site...

Anyway, I love led zeppelin, and I will be the next jimmy page before my retirement, I swear I can do it. I was raised with jimi hendrix, janis joplin, pink floyd, cream, the beatles, the doors, the who, a little rolling stones, creedence clearwater, bob marley, lynyrd skynyrd, supertramp, all that old shcool stuff. (yes, it's spelled shcool on purpose.) So now I am totally into all that and more, like the red hot chili peppers (I think I have more respect for john frusciante than any other contemporary musician), majorly loving me some oasis (yes, I know they're idiots, but I'm not their manager I'm just a fan, ok?), I had a little goo goo doll thing but I don't suppose it was because of their musical expertise, I just liked the guys voice. Also matchbox twenty is extremely talented- especially in the songwriting dept. which is where it can really count. I really don't like limp bizkit but wes borland is one of the most innovative bassists out there, as well as flea (rhcp). Radiohead is a contemporary band which I am completely enamored with, just because it seems like there aren't many groups out there really making music because it's what they love to do in life, and that's what radiohead is doing. I am positive there's some I forgot, but I'll probably be back later to let ya'll know. As a writer, I am constantly talking about stuff, it's only a bonus when some one cares... I look forward to talking more with you great people...

Zero
07-14-2001, 09:29 PM
Am i the only person who thinks that Wes Borland's contacts are cool?

I have some sort of condition with my eyes (I just found out) that makes me see about three times as much light the normal person. Good at night, but during the day it really sucks. Picture it's like staring at the sun all the time, and that's just normal. I never realized that it wasn't normal to see that much light. :(

Anyways, I want to get some contacts like his, because i think they are cool, it's like having sunglasses built into your eyes.

hehe...
ok zero....this is totally unrelated to music but.....
would you be referring to an asthigmatism? i only ask because i have a pretty bad one...i cant see jack without my glasses....used to be contacts for people like me (or us) were AWFUL..i tried 'em.... but im pretty sure now you can ge some decent ones.......contacts have come a long way....
yeah..its ok for at night...unless you happen to be driving your car and the "-----" (fill in any nasty word you like) behind you has his brights on.....

Zero
07-14-2001, 09:45 PM
naw, not an astigmatism. I forget what it is called, some long scientific word, but i have cracks in my cornea, so it lets in light, around my eye from other places besides my pupil. It sucks, because they eye can not regulate the light from elsewhere, so its sort of like having a permanent flashlight shining in my eyes, unless i sit in the dark, then i can see almost normally. I do have very bad eyes though, I can't see literally past the end of my nose without my glasses :)

~Z~

P.S. Has anyone seen the movie PITCH BLACK? I just found out, if my eyes keep getting worse, i might end up like the guy in it, wearing the goggles like that, but i wouldn't quite see the same as him. (Not all liney and hazy and crap)

KoRn
07-25-2001, 06:21 AM

Ok, I like most of those mentioned here. although I don't hear Heavy Metal too much, only can I say they are great guitarists. But, there is a guitarist I like and didn't hear a alot about him. I mean Don Felder one of (was) the members of Eagles. What about you, don't you think he is great guitarist?

My favourite band?
AC/DC, of course.
I quite like the Jimi Hendrix Experience as well, not only because of Jimi's guitar, but also because of his singing and the great drummer.
And some time ago I used to listen to Oasis, but nowadays I enjoy only their first album.
I also like the older stuff like Led Zep and so.
And I detest Nu-Metal.

Best band out there is Green Day plain and simple. Easy and simple guitar riffs. Deadly and awesome band! Listen to anything by them and its deadly!!!!!!!

The Fury
11-27-2001, 05:59 PM
Yeah I love Green Day and they've got 5 amazing albums but wasn't Warning kinda rubbish.... and a rip off?(£13.00)

Or maybe I just outgrew them, I love the old stuff but I just can't listen to Warning at all except the Live song, which is an oldie.

Just a thought......

slaughteredsoul
11-27-2001, 06:10 PM
Is Warning the last album? i don't know if it's about u outgrowing them but the last album is definately not to be compared with the likes of 'dookie'(its a ripoff alright)

By the way,The best band is Metallica:D

Nirvana chick
11-27-2001, 07:13 PM
I don't know about anyone else but NIRVANA is definitely my favorite. Im overly obsessed with them, yea there really good!

Andrewedwards
11-27-2001, 07:29 PM
Green Day is still good. Sure Warning aint what green day used to be but it's still a good album. I gotta say Minority, Blood Sex And Booze and Castaway have been stuck in my head many many times in the past. Of course you could say Dookie is a better album then Warning but it's also much different. Dookie has great punk tunes like Welcome To Paradise, Longview, She and F.O.D but Warning has good melodic tunes like Blood Sex And Booze, Waiting and Church On Sunday. Green Day is a changing band just like all bands. And if your not willing to change with them so be it but there still one kick ass band no matter what u say.

The Fury
11-28-2001, 07:27 AM
I didn't mean to have a go.....sorry

I just didn't think Warning was up to par, but yes they are top class band, and are the reason that I wanted to play the guitar.

Oh btw, does anyone know where I can hear the song Jar because its on the greatest hits and I've allready got most of them and I dont want to buy an album for just 1 song.

Yeah, we also got a different song. It's called New York City Cops (it contains the line New York City cops, they ain't too smart) so they replaced it with a different one for the Americans because of September the 11th. It's a shame as well 'cos it's one of the best song on the album with a great solo. (not to rub it in or anyhting, hehe)
