Ibanez RG470 = approx. US$420
Ibanez RG270 = approx US$290

I noticed that the pickups were different but from the sound, it seemed ok for both of them weather I was playing heavy stuff with over-drive on or playing songs like nothing else matters by metallica...both seemed to produce a pretty good sound... they both felt just as good, but this is where my question is:

What's the price difference for that much for if its really just the pickups that are different?

Anyone have an idea?

I'm not sure actually. Maybe they used a different kinda wood. Different pickups maybe. I myself play a RG270 and I am very happy with it. Also it is a good price for it. I payed a little bit more actually. But it was definately worth it.

Try this. Pick the 24th fret of the High E -string and see how long it lasts. maybe there's the difference. Good luck with it

hey man thanks a lot... so far I've got my mind set on the RG 270 now,, everyone says it's good for the price and I played with it today at the store and it seemed to feel just like the 470.. and I have to say for that price difference, i'd definitely want to save the money :)

Well trust me, when you change pickups you will go "oh my god how did I stand those stock pickups for so long?!" Pickups are always something to replace when the stock pickups aren't the real deal. The 470 is going to have better everything compared to the 270. It will have better wood, more sustain, nicer hardware, nicer pickups (still stock pickups though), and it will also have better tone. But the 270 definately will be nice! So go with that since it's the more comfortable price for you.

Since you're into ibanez, i'd have to suggest the high output duncans and dimarzios. EMGs would also be something to look at as well.
