I just checked out the Yamaha DG-Stomp pedal and I think because it was one of the first multi-effects pedal I really looked into, I've fallen in love with it..
but I jsut want some advice from you guys,, I'm going to buy my first electric guitar and I've been playing with an acoustic for around half a year and I'm a VERY KEEN guitarist who plays at least 1 hour a day or else I cant sleep properly... :P
because this is what I'm planning on doing
Electric Guitar: Ibanez RG270
Get a multi-effects pedal.
Plug it into my hifi/pc speakers (dont worry they're high quality stuff)
and not buy an amp...what do u guys think? or should i just get a thrashmetal pedal for now and buy an amp with the money?
I play heavy metal but also want to play clean songs like nothing else matters by metallica.
thanks :)

Multi effects pedals are generally very cool because they allow you to experiment with your guitar and the sound it produces. You can really get some cool stuff out of it.
If you're a bedroom rocker, look into Zoom 505; 606; 1010 nothing special but cheap and durable (bad for gigs etc...). More expensive and better would be Boss pedals. Check out the GT-6, thought th GT-5 is also good. Digitech makes good pedals also, DOD series. I played all of them in a store and I lust for one. All I need is the money. You don't really need an amp if you have the HI FI for yourself and you don't plan on playing in a band. Amps are more mobile though and are also an important part of the sound producing mechanism but they are also expensive.
So you can get a nice 15Watt practice amp with no effect in it and a zoom or you can get a GT-5/6 and no amp...
hmmm
GT-FIVE!!! YEAH!
Really go for it, screw the amp. I can't sleep because of it!!! Argh!
Never saw any Yamaha pedals... try finding some reviews on the net, some are in the Gear section of cyberfret...

Gonna save you some money again I think. I purchased a multi effect pedal. the Zoom GFX707 to be exactly. There are about 60 different effects on it and I have used about 3 or 4 now over the year or so that I have it in a song. If you just play Heavy metal (like me for most parts) Get a nice Distortion pedal and buy an amp to go with. the single effect units are way better than the multi effects units. Especially when you look at the sound they produce. Just an advice

first don't get an ibanez: I hate them. if you're gonna use pedals, you'll never use all the effects on a multi-effects proccessor, so stick with the analog and get a nice, powerful amp with more than 1 channel, and make sure you like the distortion on it.
Peachy...

Ahem... Ibanez is a great guitar. But if you have the money, I'd go for one of the prestige RG's. But I mean, don't JUST try out Ibanez, try out Jackson and ESP. Great Quality guitars, and renowned for being metal guitars. If you have 3000 to spend on a guitar, check out the parker fly =]. And as far as multi-effects pedals go, do you really want all those effects? Or just a distortion pedal and a chorus pedal (for the clean). And pickup a cheap practise amp. Then upgrade later... Or if you're really set on hooking it up through your stereo... go for the pod man. Brilliant amp emulation, and built in effects. There's not too many, and it's fairly cheap.

Behringer makes a modeler like the POD and its about $100 bucks at yer local music store, and it is just as good as if not better than the POD.
Ibanez guitars are ok...I have a 7-string Sabre 7420 that I like quite a bit....not too fond of the RG's (6-string model's)...to me they are like over priced Jackson Dinky's. I have two Jackson Dinky Reverse (6-string and 7-string)...the RG 7-string plays better than the Jackson 7's and ESP 7's. BC Rich makes great guitars in the NJ series and their handmade stuff is outstanding....once agian thats only if you've got about 3G to spend on an instrument.

Line 6 POD 2.0 through PA Live or stereo headphones for home. Then get the pedalboard for it.
Play alot guitars, as mentioned before. You'll find the right lady.
My 2 cents...
Peace!
