Movable chords

on a movable chord such as F major, when it says to press the sixth second and first string in the first fret do you have to do exactly that or can you bar the entire first fret....Thanks for answering this newbee question

Your first finger will barre across all 6 strings. It is not really necessary to apply presser on the 5th, 4th, and 3rd strings, but your first finger will be covering all 6.
