all this time ive been using a pick.. i saw someone play with, some part of his palm... by just ramming the strings, man... maybe it was his thumb... is that flatpicking?? :confused:

Flatpicking in a general sense is just playing with a.....flat pick. As apposed playing fingerstyle. Most often flatpicking is used to describe the style of music played by acoustic guitar players playing country or bluegrass music.

You may be describing a technique called palm muting. Below is a lesson to check out.

im a 14 yeah old flat picket its more bluegrass than anything

You can find people who flatpick (fingerpick)that play Blues, Jazz, Folk, Country, and now and then Rock. Different styles of flatpicking which uses the Thumb for the base notes and the fingers for the hi notes.

Means playing with a pick. I play several different styles using the pick in fact I play much faster using the pick. Key to flatpicking is accuracy.
