I played a dan' bass a few weeks back in a shop, only a 4 string though. Seemed ok, had no major complaints. Sounded good and played alright. Didnt have time to check it over so i cant be 100% about this, but it felt like a fairly solid, well put together peice of kit
However im yet to play their six string, so your best bet would be to try it out for yourself, see what you think.

I have a Danelectro 7 string guitar. It is good quality. My only complaint.....and it is a major one.....is that in order to adjust the neck, you have to take the neck off. What a royal pain in the butt. That does not allow for adjusting the neck very often, or accurately. I bought it because Musician's Friend was blowing them out for $100. So for $100 I guess I will put up with that complaint. Other than that I like the guitar. I have a student that has one of the cheap 6 string guitar models. I wasn't as impressed with that as my 7 string.
But I have not played one of their basses. I hope you have huge hands :) I played a 6 string bass for the first time a couple of days ago. I could never play that thing on a regular basis. I have average size hands. And for that your really need some big hands.
